L'ATLAS
Where calligraphy, geometry, and contemporary art converge to create a unique visual language recognized around the world.
Art Beyond the Walls
The walls of Casa Petit Pays feature artworks by renowned French artist Jules Dedet Granel, known as L’ATLAS (b. 1978), whose distinctive visual language blends calligraphy, geometric abstraction, and urban art. Drawing on his research into writing systems across different cultures, L’ATLAS has developed a universal visual language in which letters become forms and forms become symbols, creating a dynamic dialogue between gesture, rhythm, and perception.
L’ATLAS quickly established himself as a major figure in contemporary urban art. Since the 2000s, he has exhibited internationally and created monumental public installations. His work explores the relationships between space, architecture, movement, and optical illusion through hypnotic and minimalist graphic compositions.
His collaborations span internationally recognized brands and cultural institutions, including Perrier, Agnès b., FENTY, and Maison Guerlain. He notably designed the iconic FENTY logo for Rihanna.
At Casa Petit Pays, his work brings a contemporary cultural dimension to the guesthouse, creating a dialogue between global artistic expression and the vibrant spirit of Cabo Verde. Through his exploration of legibility, abstraction, and the reimagining of public space, L’ATLAS invites guests into an immersive visual experience where art, culture, and architecture converge.
